A mobile treatment plant automated in 8 weeks, with control logic built for reuse
Inopsys builds mobile installations that treat industrial wastewater directly on its customers’ sites. For this project, Inopsys developed a containerised, multi-stage metal removal plant for a major company in the petrochemical industry. The unit treats wastewater through filtration, three ion-exchange trains and an activated carbon step. Filtration, backwash cycles, chemical dosing and pressure control run automatically. The operator manages the column rotation and chemicals, and releases each batch once the laboratory results have been approved. OTmatic was responsible for the control software, the Factory Acceptance Test and the start-up of the installation.

Following the control logic in the platform

This project marked a new step in the collaboration. It was the second project for which Inopsys worked with the OTmatic team, and the first time an Inopsys engineer followed the control logic directly in the OTmatic platform.

OTmatic remained accountable for thecode, the FAT and the start-up. The Inopsys engineer used the platform to follow how the control logic was built and to learn how the modules work. This prepares the team to work more actively with the modules in future projects, while keeping responsibilities clear in this project.

“The second time working togetherwith the OTmatic team and, again, it was a great decision. Their platform isintuitive, user-friendly and offers a lot of potential to scale and reintegratein future projects. But, more importantly, I value their input, hard work andflexibility. They delivered a robust solution covering all our requirementswithin a very tight schedule.” – Robbe van der Zweep, Project Engineer, Inopsys

Built once, ready for the next project

The collaboration between Inopsys and OTmatic will continue with two more projects. The modules developed for this installation can now be reused as a starting point for the next one. As the module library grows, future projects can move faster and start from proven control logic instead of rebuilding it from scratch.
